Job Title: Power Modeler
About Shulman Advisory
Tokyo-based energy consultancy helping international firms enter, grow, and succeed in Japan’s electricity and renewables markets.
The Role
We’re looking for an experienced power system modeler to support our quantitative capabilities. You’ll collaborate with our quant analyst and external partners to build long-term electricity price forecasts and scenario models for the Japanese market. Part-time and project-based arrangements are possible.
What You’ll Do
- Develop long-term electricity price curves and scenario-based forecasting models
- Provide mentorship on complex power model construction and interpretation
- Support sensitivity analysis and scenario design
- Collaborate with internal team and external partners
What We Need
- Proven experience building complex long-term power system models
- Strong understanding of electricity market dynamics and price drivers
- Ability to translate technical modeling into actionable client advice
- Comfortable working flexibly
Nice to Have
- Japanese market knowledge (concepts are transferable)
- Experience with battery storage economics, FIT-to-FIP transitions
- Financial modeling skills (NPV, WACC, cash flow analysis)

Job Title: Japan Power Market Consultant
About Shulman Advisory
Tokyo-based energy consultancy helping international firms enter, grow, and succeed in Japan’s electricity and renewables markets.
The Role
We’re looking for an experienced renewable energy consultant to join our delivery team. You’ll work directly with clients and collaborate with our analysts to plan, execute, and deliver consulting projects across Japan’s evolving energy landscape. 10–20 hours per week to start, with scope to grow.
What You’ll Do
- Lead project planning, execution, and client communication
- Bring on-the-ground knowledge of Japan’s Power Market, in particular, regulation and policies
- Synthesize research and data into clear, actionable advice for clients
What We Need
- Proven consulting or advisory experience in the Japanese electricity market or renewable energy
- Strong research, analysis, and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently
- Comfortable working flexibly in a small, fast-moving team
Nice to Have
- Japanese language ability (English required; Japanese strongly preferred)
- Familiarity with Japan’s power market – policy frameworks, wholesale markets, or asset monetization
- Financial or quantitative analysis experience
